What happens next?

Victims registered with the OVA will receive a variety of notifications regarding the status of the inmate, including but not limited to: State Intermediate Punishment (SIP) and Boot Camp consideration/transfer (if applicable), parole consideration, inmate death, inmate escape and recapture.

You will receive a registration letter from the OVA once your registration is confirmed and the offender is in the custody of the Department of Corrections. This information explains what types of notifications you can expect from the Office of Victim Advocate. We have staff assigned to the DOC and the Board of Probation and Parole.

Your letter will list the offender(s) you are registered for and give you a registration number. In order for the OVA to provide you with timely notifications it is important that you keep us informed of any change in your contact information. You will also need to stay in contact with the committing county’s District Attorney’s Office for any information on upcoming appeals or changes in sentence status from the county court systems.

We are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with the DOC and PBPP. If there is an inmate escape, we will contact you, no matter what time of the day it is.
