What happens next?
Victims registered with the Office of Victim Advocate (OVA) will receive a variety of notifications regarding the status of the inmate, including but not limited to: State Intermediate Punishment (SIP)
and Boot Camp
consideration/transfer (if applicable), parole consideration, inmate death, inmate escape and recapture.
You will receive a registration letter from OVA after your registration is confirmed and the person is in the custody of the Department of Corrections
(DOC). This information explains what types of notifications you can expect from OVA.
Your letter will list the person(s) you are registered for and give you a registration number. In order for OVA to provide you with timely notifications it is important that you keep us informed of any change in your contact information. You will also need to stay in contact with the committing county’s district attorney’s office
for any information on upcoming appeals or changes in sentence status from the county court systems.
OVA staff is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with both DOC and the Parole Board. If there is an inmate escape, we will contact you, no matter what time of the day it is.
